Safe Haven Stable LLC

 Located just 23 miles from downtown Minneapolis, Safe Haven Stable is more than just a place to ride.  Nestled on the shore of Ox Yoke Lake, an enviromentally protected refuge for birds and wildlife, Safe Haven Stable is a welcome escape from city life.  The Luce Line trail is close by for trail riding and for bike riding and hiking.  We are located on popular road bike routes as well.  Enjoy a day of biking, birdwatching, or hiking after your ride!

Our Business

Safe Haven Stable is a new venture backed by years of experience.  Instruction emphasizes building a partnership with your horse.  Our training philosophy focuses on creating positive experiences for the horse, building confidence and calm demeanor.

Lisa taught riding lessons for 20 years before taking a 10 year break.  She is now taking on a few students who are lower level competitors.

Who We Are

Dr. Lisa Borgia has a long background in horses spanning more than 40 years, earning a Riding Master and Riding Instructor degree from Meredith Manor in 1978. She began instructing and training in the 1980's in PA. Highlights of her riding career including riding at Nationals in eventing and dressage at Training Level.  She has worked with many top riders, including Elliot Abhau, Kay Meredith, Bruce Davidson, and Jimmy Wolford and more recently with  Becky Holder, Lucinda Green, Ralph Hill, Niall Grimes, and Dorothy Crowell.  In the spring of 2011, Lisa and her preliminary event horse, Frodo of the Shire, spend 4 weeks with Becky Holder at her winter training facility in North Carolina.

Lisa moved to Minnesota in 2000 and earned a PhD in Equine Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 2010 with a with special emphasis on neuromuscular disorders.  In 2009, and 2010 she was a USEA silver medalist, and has been one of the top Area IV adult riders.
